SOPHISTICATED 6-AIR BAG SYSTEM

The Galant uses state-of-the-art technology to help protect all occupants. Both the driver and front seat passenger are provided with advanced front air bags with two-stage inflators, as well as seat-mounted side curtain air bags add a layer of protection for front and outboard rear seat passengers. The Galant also has front seatbelt pretensioners that help remove slack and control occupant motion in certain frontal impacts. Belt-force limiters relieve some front seatbelt tension at the peak of occupant deceleration, allowing the seatbelt and air bag to work together optimally.

ABS AND EBD BRAKING

ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) – ABS helps eliminate wheel lock-up during panic or emergency braking. Without ABS, when wheel lock-up occurs, the tire skids, which can make braking, steering and acceleration almost possible. With ABS, a brief reduction of braking pressure occurs when impending wheel lock-up is sensed. By “pulsing” the brakes (up to 10 times per second), wheel rotation is modulated, helping to eliminate lock-up and maintain maximum driver control.
