PASSIVE SAFETY
DUAL STAGE FRONT SRS AIRBAG SYSTEM
The driver and front passenger are protected by the Grandis’ new dual stage front SRS airbag system. Using a sophisticated control system to guage the speed of the collision, the airbags deploy in stages as appropriate to best protect the occupants. For additional safety, impact bars in the doors absorb impact energy to protect the driver and front passenger in the event of a side collision.
In the event of an accident, the front impact sensor (engine compartment) and G-sensor (control unity) determine the severity of the collision and deploy the airbags, either partially or fully, for maximum safety. In a low-speed collision, the airbags partially inflate to absorb the impact while minimizing danger to the occupants. In a high-speed collision, the airbags fully inflate for maximum protection to the driver and front passenger.
PRETENSIONERS AND FORCE LIMITERS
The front seats are fitted with ELR (Emergency Locking Retractor) seatbelts with pretensioners that limit movement in the event of a collision, as well as force limiter that help protect occupants from injury in sudden stops. Second-row seats are also equipped with ELR/ALR (-/Automatic Locking Retractor) seatbelts, offering increased safety for attaching your child safety seat.
